In the field, systems operate and function differently than indoor systems. TraxFast™ MC2 takes on the challenge of the environment no matter what region you are located. TraxFast™ MC2 can help you identify your outside assets no matter where they are or what conditions exist. From extreme temperatures, hot or cold, TraxFast™ MC2 provides the equipment and system that will tolerate such harsh environments.
Many cost cutting and time saving opportunities exist outside that were never considered during the desktop PC evolution. Now that technologies have brought mobility with handheld computing those opportunities are now here with solutions provided by TraxFast™ MC2.
Any outside asset can be identified easily using different technologies.
GPS (Global Positioning System) - GPS technology provided by satellite communications can track an asset's position within three meters of its physical location. Consider an infrastructure of gas and oil wells, communication towers or even telephone poles, anything outside can be located as if the outside was one of your stockrooms of inventory. Using the GPS location as your asset identity or, in the case of many assets at one location, using serialized asset tags, TraxFast™ MC2 supports the tracking technologies that correspond to your requirements.
Radio Tagging (RFID) - The weather plays havoc on barcode tags that may be on equipment. The mobile worker needing to know where an asset is located or the physical properties of an asset cannot always visualize the asset. The high winds blowing sand over the asset, the heavy rains splattering mud or the squalling snows eventually covering the asset can be a challenge to any field person. Adding the requirement to find a barcode label to identify the asset makes the job that more difficult. RFID tags can contain the assets identity and be known to the mobile worker without the need of locating the tag. Recording of events such as meter readings, condition of an asset, or just verification that the asset exists is a simple procedure using TraxFast™ MC2.
Barcoding - The simple process of scanning a barcode can excel in performance under the right conditions. Barcoding, the least expensive approach, can reduce those errors that are commonly found through manual recording. After scanning the barcode, TraxFast™ MC2 will present the mobile worker with information about the asset; descriptive data, location data, maintenance and repair schedules and even record the time and cost spent on the asset should it require attention.
Digital Imaging - If an asset is damaged or needs further evaluation back at the labs, take one or many pictures of the asset using the optional PDA connected camera. That way, those making decisions back at the office can have more credible evidence of the situation that may warrant repair orders to be initiated or even directive to replace the asset.
Document Scanning & Retention- There may be analytical tapes, document forms, certifications, inspections, etc. that are documented in some form that can be scanned and retained with the asset record. Just like photography, the documents can be retrieved later and used in analysis of an asset.
eTeklogics provides three grades of equipment that can be selected based upon the conditions of operation.
Light Duty - Very inexpensive handheld terminals that are ideal for use in a vehicle or in mild weather conditions. These handhelds are not protected against drop or moisture but perform well if those conditions do not exist.
Medium Duty - Industrialized handheld terminals that resist moisture, dust and multiple drops of four foot or less on concrete. Operating temperatures can be from four to a hundred degrees.
Heavy Duty - Waterproof terminals resistant to sand and dust capable of multiple five foot drops. Operating temperatures are -20 to 140 degrees.
